Earnings season has begun, and the numbers are impressive. We’ll be breaking it all down on this week’s Weekend Market Review with Brett Witkowski.
To start, Meta’s revenue grew by 16% with margins of 41%, and earnings per share rose by 37%. Microsoft saw a strong rebound with revenue up 13%, while Amazon’s revenue increased by 9% and earnings per share jumped 62%. These are substantial gains from some of the market’s biggest players.
Up until this week, markets have largely been driven by news, often leading to volatile and unpredictable movements. However, news-driven markets tend to give way when hard economic data comes through in earnings reports. This quarter’s results have been strong enough that many areas of the S&P 500 have moved back above their 200-day simple moving average, a technical indicator that could suggest broader market momentum ahead.
