Weekly Update | Last Rate Cut of the Year | December 10, 2025

Today, we break down the final rate cut of the year with Brett Witkowski. The Fed lowered rates by 0.25% as expected, officially moving us into the year-end period for the markets.

Looking at the S&P 500, the index has resolved its test of the 50-day and is now positive again, sitting near all-time highs. The Federal Reserve cut rates a quarter point, and the FOMC’s dot plot shows just one additional reduction in 2026 and another in 2027.

Along with the rate decision, the Fed announced it will resume buying Treasury securities. It plans to purchase $40 billion in Treasury bills starting Friday. Lastly, seasonality could help carry markets higher into the end of the year.
